The primary purpose of the REPLACEMENTS LTD PAC is to influence the election of local, state and national candidates who will best support and promote the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) citizens. In addition, consideration is given to a candidate’s past and current positions on issues supporting the business and social interests of Replacements, Ltd. (which includes fostering an open community in which all individuals are free to participate and serve without discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity) and the strategic viability of the candidate.
We only endorse local candidates who complete
and return our survey.
***************************************************
The REPLACEMENTS LTD PAC has endorsed some Republican candidates. However, we are cautious because the NC Republican Party Platform is strongly opposed to LGBT equality. We recognize that not all Republicans share this out-of-touch belief system.
North Carolina Republican Party Platform For 2009
Adopted June 12, 2009
Homosexual behavior is not the norm. Public schools should not be used to teach children about homosexual behavior. Taxpayers should not fund benefit plans for unmarried partners. We support federal and state constitutional amendments to ensure that marriage is limited to the union of one man and one woman. We oppose adoption or foster parenting by same sex couples.
America's defense must be second to none. The ban against known homosexuals should be retained. The armed forces should be maintained at full combat readiness.
